2023 Andrija ┼átampar Medallist
The 2023 Andrija Štampar Medal has been awarded to Prof Anders Foldspang, Professor Emeritus, Department of Public Health, Aarhus University, Denmark
Professor Anders Foldspang is professor emeritus at the Department of Public Health at Aarhus University, Denmark. During his career, he led a large number of public health education programmes, held expert positions in the Nordic region, was active in the Nordic Federation for Medical Education, was a member of the board of ASPHER and was President of ASPHER in 2006-2007.

Call for Abstracts for the ASPHER YOUNG RESEARCHERS FORUM
The YRF will be held on Wednesday 08 November 2023 from 1330-1700 in Dublin during EPH pre-conferences.
The YRF is meant for postgraduate students (MPH, MSc, MRes, PhD, etc) and early career researchers from any field of public health, as well as their supervisors. It has been specifically designed to provide you with the opportunity to present your work in a friendly, supportive forum and to receive feedback from mentors and peers.
The deadline for submission of abstracts (500 words) is 01 October, 23:59 CET.

Advancing the Public Health Advocacy: A Manifesto
ASPHER and EPHA in the context of the 17th World Congress on Public Health launched a manifesto calling for 'UNITED PUBLIC HEALTH ACTION AND ADVOCACY CENTRED ON: PEOPLE AND PLANET, EVIDENCE, TRUST, PARTNERSHIP, INVESTMENT.'
The Manifesto includes five actionable points in order to advance public health universally and advocate for the common good.
Syllabi collection on Diversity in Public Health
These syllabi provide hands-on material for people engaged in public health education on health inequities, social injustices and diversity enabling students to:
- identify mechanisms of privilege and oppression related to social identities,
- determine awareness of one’s own social identities and their relevance in the public health landscape,
- learn how to determine biases within public health structures (and oneself),
- address and change biases in their practices to ultimately reduce health inequities.

ASPHER statement on the war against Ukraine
In response to the war in Ukraine, ASPHER has convened a Task Force on War.
The Task Force has published a Roadmap to Developing ASPHER Technical Guidance Notes on War and Health. The overall aim of this document is to outline a roadmap leading to the development of a series of technical guidance notes to inform the response of the ASPHER community to the Russian war on Ukraine.

Road Map to Professionalizing the Public Health Workforce
ASPHER and WHO have launched the Road Map to Professionalizing the Public Health Workforce. This Road Map offers pragmatic recommendations for action to professionalize the public health workforce as a response to growing public health needs; it puts forward levers that can be engaged to do so. It embraces, by necessity, a cross-sectoral and cross-disciplinary approach that provides clarity about the scope and the specific competencies required, identifies key action areas for professionals and identifies the roles of the various actors.
The Roadmap works in synergy with the WHO-ASPHER Competency Framework for the Public Health Workforce, part of the ongoing ASPHER Programme for Public Health Competencies
