Trauma-informed Public Health – approaches to resilience and trauma informed public health 

We invite you to the 6th International Summer School on Public Mental Health, hosted by the Medical University of Gdańsk in collaboration with the European Public Health Association (EUPHA), Public Mental Health Section, and co-funded by the European Union.

This year’s theme focuses on: Trauma-Informed Public Health – understanding the role of trauma and strengthening resilience in public health systems.

What to Expect

The Summer School opens with an international conference on June 2, 2025, followed by four intensive and inspiring days filled with:

  • Lectures by leading experts from across Europe
  • Interactive workshops and group work
  • Participant presentations and peer collaboration
  • A festive dinner and networking activities
  • An official certificate ceremony with special guests – including Charlotte Merchandise

The aim: The conference summer school will address the impact of trauma on mental health and mental health conditions. Analyzing recent traumatic events cause by war in Ukraine as well as migrations we will deepen the understanding of the nature of traumatic life events and their impact on traumatic stress symptoms, resilience and posttraumatic growth. Additionally, opportunities for trauma informed care in communities and in medical and psychosocial institutions will be highlighted. The meeting will give an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas on how to address trauma in public health systems.
